Readings - Weather
The Readings - Weather page is used to enter weather information, which can be used to compare against utility usage to create comparison reports. The reports can help in predicting future energy demands as well as determining energy efficiency of buildings.
To enter weather information:

Access the Utility module by clicking the Utility link at the top of the page.

Select the Readings tab.

Select the Weather link to view the Readings - Weather page.
- In the Weather Date field, specify the date on which the weather information will be recorded.
- In the Region field, select the region in which the weather information will be recorded.

In the Weather Entry Method pane, select how data will be entered:

By day – Select this option if you are entering readings for a single day.

By month – Select this option if you are entering readings for a month.

Standard – Select this option to enter readings using standard (aka, English) units of measurement, for example, degrees Fahrenheit, inches, and miles per hour

Metric – Select this option to enter readings using metric units of measurement, for example, degrees Celsius, millimeters, and kilometers per hour

Enter Temperature readings in the following fields:
-
Maximum Temp – the highest temperature recorded during a time period
-
Minimum Temp – the lowest temperature recorded during a time period
-
Mean Temp – the average temperature
-

Enter Moisture readings in the following fields:
-
Dew Point – the temperature at which water vapor reaches saturation and condenses into a liquid
-
Maximum Humidity – the highest ratio of water vapor content of the air
-
Minimum Humidity – the lowest ratio of water vapor content of the air
-
Average Humidity – the average ratio of water vapor content of the air

Enter Precipitation readings in the following fields:

Rainfall – the measurement of rainfall on the ground, usually measured by a rain gauge

Snow Depth – the measurement of snowfall on the ground

Enter Degree Days readings in the following fields:
A degree day is used to determine the heating requirements of buildings, representing a fall of one degree below a specified average outdoor temperature (usually 18°C or 65°F) for one day. On Heating degree days, a building may need to be heated to get to a comfortable temperature. On Cooling degree days, a building may need to be cooled to get to a comfortable temperature.

Degree Day – select whether the demand for energy is for heating or cooling a building, which is determined by the base temperature

Base – enter the base temperature where neither heating nor cooling are required, often 18 degrees Celsius or 65 degrees Fahrenheit

Enter Wind readings in the following fields:

Wind Speed – the rate at which air is moving horizontally at a given point
-
Maximum Wind Speed – the highest rate at which air is moving horizontally at a given point
-
Maximum Gust Speed – the highest rate of wind speed that exceeds the lowest wind speed measured during a time interval by 10 knots (19 km/hr)

Enter a Pressure reading in the following field:

Sea Level Pressure – the atmospheric pressure at sea level at a given location
-

Enter Comments to indicate additional notes or observations about the weather.
